E komo mai!

Welcome! We are so glad you have found us!

We are currently accepting K-12 applications here at Saint Benedict Hall for the 2023-24 School Year! We are delighted that you are considering Saint Benedict Hall for your children, and we pray that God would lead you with wisdom as you discern the best fit for your children next school year. Since starting our program in 2018, we have been humbled to offer our Classical Christian hybrid education now to more than eighty students. We’ve learned a lot through trial and error over the years, and we are committed to continue to improve our model to be a blessing to more families seeking this kind of education. It is our desire and goal to continue to partner with parents in hybrid/collaborative schooling, and we want to grow to be able to accommodate more families into what we are doing!

The unique education Saint. Benedict Hall provides can be summarized as:

  • Collaborative: We provide structure & support to homeschool families with a 3 day a week classroom experience and 2 days a week for more flexible family time.

  • Christian: We nurture our students in the faith of Jesus Christ in a calm, orderly, respectful and reverent atmosphere.

  • Classical: We see education as the shaping of our loves to reflect God’s desires, and dig deep into the treasures of the past to be shaped by the great ideas of our culture.

Below is a snapshot what our admission process looks like:

  • Please submit your application using the online form.

  • Within 2 weeks of submitting your application, we will schedule a campus visit, parent interview, and student academic evaluation on our campus. If you are currently off-island we can do this over Zoom. We ask that you pay a $50 admissions fee at the time of your interview.

  • Within 2 weeks after your interview, you will receive a response from us.

  • If you receive an acceptance letter, you have 2 weeks to confirm and reserve a seat for the 2023-24 School Year by putting down a $373 non-refundable deposit that will be credited to your first month’s dues.

Our desire is to provide a quality education to every student we have been given to disciple.  While we have been blessed with substantial interest in our program, we are being careful at this stage of our development to not admit more students than those to whom we can provide this quality education. That said, we are unable to accept all applications at this time. We are doing the best we can to discern which families we can partner with to create a vibrant learning community where our families, students, and teachers will thrive.

Following your final interview, you will hear back from us within 2 weeks. You may be put in a wait pool. If you are interested in joining our staff and teaching, and if we have a particular need in the classroom, we will schedule a follow up interview to discuss that possibility.

*TO MAKE YOUR APPLICATION COMPLETE, PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

•       A sample writing from your children. For Form 1 sample should include: Write their names, and the alphabet. For Form 2 & 3: Write a paragraph about themselves (interests, family, etc.). Please include this writing sample when turning in this application. This will help us appropriately place your child in the Form where they will learn best.

•       Then before beginning classes at SBH, we ask that you give us a copy of your letter of intent. According to Hawaii State Law: “The parent must provide the local public-school principal with a notice of intent to home educate the child before initiating homeschooling. The notice of intent may be submitted on a HIDOE-developed form (Form OIS-4140) or in a letter containing the following items: name, address, and telephone number of the child; birthdate and grade level of the child; and signature of the parent (Hawaii Administrative Code (HAC) §8-12-13). The notice of intent must be acknowledged by the principal and the district superintendent. The notice of intent is used for record-keeping purposes and to protect families from unfounded accusations of educational neglect or truancy. HAC §8-12-13(b).”
