Dcn. Ben Moore

Dcn. Ben is a native of Bainbridge Island, WA, and attended University of Washington where he completed his undergraduate degree in Humanities. He finished his masters degree at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. He taught at Trinity Christian School for 8 years (6th Grade and High School). Dcn. Ben has been the SBH program director since 2019. He and his wife Sara attend All Saints Anglican Church, where he serves as a deacon. They have three children: Charlotte, Graham, and Austin.

Form 4 Tutor: Literature and Latin

Fr. Mark grew up on island, and attended Hawaii Pacific University where he completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Before planting All Saints Anglican Church in Honolulu, where he is currently the rector. Fr. Mark worked as a Humanities and debate teacher at Trinity Christian School for 4 years, and has been a parent, tutor, and board member at SBH since 2018. He and his wife Rachel have five children: Tirzah, Penelope, Ambrose, Moses, and Violet.

Kelly Maunakea-Payne

Form 1 Tutor: Humanities and Bible

Kelly is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, and attended college at Point Loma Nazarene University. She then went to school for Elementary Education at the University of Hawaii. Kelly worked at Central Union Preschool as an assistant teacher. The Maunakea-Payne family has been a part of SBH since 2019 and Kelly has taught Nature Studies and Humanities classes. The She and her husband Zach attend Daybreak Church and have four children: Eliana, Michiah, Jude, and Nava.

Dr. Chris Bruno

Form 3 & 4 Tutor: Bible and Theology

SBH Board of Trustees Member

Chris, originally from the Midwest, has lived in Hawaii on and off for the past 11 years. He holds a Phd from Wheaton College, and has done additional studies at the University of Chicago Divinity School and the University of Oxford. He has taught at Northland International University, Cedarville University, and Trinity Christian School. He has written and co-written five books, as well as numerous articles and reviews. He is currently the President of Oahu Theological Seminary in partnership with Bethlehem Seminary and Training Leaders International. He and his wife Katie have four boys: Luke, Simon, Elliot, and Noah. They are members at All Saints Anglican Church where he is currently a deacon and will be ordained as a priest in May 2024.

Katie Bruno

Form 1 and 3 Tutor: Latin and Language Arts

Katie and her family have been a part of the SBH community since 2020. She has a degree in Secondary Education in History and English from Northland International University. Her son, Luke, is a graduate of SBH, and currently attends Wheaton College. She is passionate about teaching literature and writing. She and her family attend All Saints Anglican Church.

Martha Burns

Form 1 and 2 Tutor: Latin, Nature Studies, and Language Arts

Martha (aka MB) is originally from Florida and has a teaching degree from Florida Atlantic University. MB has been a teacher for over 10 years, most recently at Trinity Christian School where she taught 4th grade. Her son Reef-Finn attends SBH, and her family attend Daybreak Church.

Ashley Dart

Form 1 & 2 Tutor: Nature Studies, Language Arts, Latin, and Math Study

Ashley grew up in Florida and earned her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. She and her husband Matthew, have three children: Laura, Luke, and Lily. Their family has lived in Hawaii since 2015. Ashley and the family attend All Saints Anglican Church in Honolulu. Her two oldest children will be attending Samford University in Louisiana, and her youngest is a senior here at SBH. Ashley has 6 years experience as Classical Christian teacher at Trinity Christian School teaching swimming, Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, and 6th Grade.

Jenny Gumbert

Form 1 Tutor: Nature Studies, Language Arts & Gymnasium

Jenny grew up in Southern California where she attended Paloma Valley High School and Riverside Community College. She and her husband, Josh, have lived in Hawaii since 2012. Jenny has been a long time homeschool mom, and has three SBH students: Emery, Ada, and Ezekiel. She has experience as a children’s ministry teacher and youth group leader at her church. She has a love for children and a passion to see them learn about Christ. Auntie Jenny and her family are members at Hawaii Kai Church.

Emily Matsco

Form 1 Tutor: Language Arts

Emily grew up in Connecticut and was a homeschool student herself all the way through 12th grade. She has a degree in management from the United States Coast Guard Academy and has a certification as Personal Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine.  She has been a dedicated homeschool parent since 2016. Her family have been part of the SBH community since 2019, and she has attended Daybreak Church since 2017 with her husband Riley and their four children: Charlotte, Isla, Talula, and Jairus.

Kelly Miller

Form 2 Tutor: Humanities

Kelly is from Fort Wayne Indiana and has lived all over the US. Kelly attended Indiana University, and has seven year of classroom experience. She also enjoyed working as a Pilates instructor and photographer. Her and her husband, Nate, have two daughters: Mackenzie and Piper. She has loved being a homeschool mom since 2019. Her and her family attend Christ the Foundation Anglican Church in Kailua.

Cameron Mullinax

Form 2, 3, & 4 Tutor: Humanities, Latin, Music, and History

Auntie Cameron is joining us from Phoenix, Arizona where she was a teacher at Great Hearts Academy. She has a passion for learning, thinking deeply, drawing others to the Lord through stories of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, and the formation of the moral imagination of her students. She graduated with honors from Baylor University with a dual BA in Great Texts of the Western Tradition and Arabic and Middle East Studies.

Jessica Palmer

Form 2, 3 and 4 Tutor: Nature Studies and Science

Jessica grew up in California, and earned her teaching certificate in elementary education from the Master's College. Her and her husband, Sean, moved to Hawaii in 2006 and have three kids: Kana, Nakoa & Anuhea. She has been a professional teacher in the classroom for over 15 years. She taught Kindergarten in California for 5 years, and then taught at Trinity Christian School for 10 years teaching 5th Grade. She and her family attend Daybreak Church, where her husband is the pastor and she is the church administrator.

Jennie Raasch

Kindergarten Tutor

Jennie grew up all over the country, but graduated from Lejeune High School in North Carolina. She attended the College of William and Mary and has extensive teaching experience at the preschool level. She taught preschool at Merritt Academy and at Ebenezer UMC. She has been on staff at SBH since 2019. She and her husband Eric attend All Saints Anglican Church, and have two daughters: Brynnlee and Teagan.
