Our Staff

Dcn. Ben is a native of Bainbridge Island, WA, and attended University of Washington where he completed his undergraduate degree in Humanities. He finished his masters degree at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. He taught at Trinity Christian School for 8 years (6th Grade and High School). Dcn. Ben has been the SBH program director since 2019. He and his wife Sara attend All Saints Anglican Church, where he serves as a deacon. They have three children: Charlotte, Graham, and Austin.

Jenny grew up in Southern California where she attended Paloma Valley High School and Riverside Community College. She and her husband, Josh, have lived in Hawaii since 2012, and has been on staff at SBH since 2020. Jenny has been a long time homeschool mom, and has three SBH students: Emery, Ada, and Ezekiel. She has experience as a children’s ministry teacher and youth group leader at her church. She has a love for children and a passion to see them learn about Christ. Auntie Jenny and her family are members at Hawaii Kai Church.

Ashley grew up in Floria and attended Louisiana State University. She taught at Trinity Christian School for 6 years, and Saint Benedict Hall for 2 years prior to the 25/26 school year. She and her husband Matthew attend All Saints Anglican Church. They have three grown children (one of whom is a proud SBH graduate!) who now all attend college on the mainland. She is passionate about classical Christian education and is excited to continue to see SBH’s culture thrive in the coming years!

Fr. Mark grew up on island, and attended Hawaii Pacific University where he completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Before planting All Saints Anglican Church in Honolulu, where he is currently the rector, Fr. Mark worked as a Humanities and debate teacher at Trinity Christian School for 4 years. He has been a parent, tutor, and board member at SBH since 2018. He and his wife Rachel have six children: Tirzah, Penelope, Ambrose, Moses, Violet, and Puah.

Fr. Chris, originally from the Midwest, has lived on and off in Hawaii since 2012. He holds a Phd from Wheaton College, and has done additional studies at the University of Chicago Divinity School and the University of Oxford. He has taught at Northland International University, Cedarville University, and Trinity Christian School. He has written and co-written six books, as well as numerous articles and reviews. He is currently the President of Oahu Theological Seminary and works with Training Leaders International. He and his wife Katie have four boys: Luke, Simon, Elliot, and Noah. He serves as a priest at All Saints Anglican Church in Honolulu.

Claire holds a Bachelor of Music and Performer's Certificate from Indiana University and studied abroad at Royal Academy of Music. She then did graduate work at Rice University. She has experience as a private flute instructor, and has been a Flutist in the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra since 2004. She has taught as a Music Teacher at Central Union Preschool and Trinity Christian School since 2017. Her husband, Mark, is also a musician in the HSO, and her three girls are students at SBH. Her family attends Anchor Church in Kaneohe.

Cheri has called Hawai’i home for over 40 years. She received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Hawaii Manoa. She was a teacher at Trinity Christian School for 22 years and has been a teacher at SBH since 2023. She and her husband, Anthony, attend Calvary Chapel Kaneohe. They have four adult children.

Auntie Halley grew up here on Oahu and was a classically educated homeschool student herself. She received a bachelor’s degrees in Liberal Arts Studies: Elementary Education and a minor in Biblical Studies and a Masters of Elementary Education from Hope International University, has taken Hillsdale Education K-12 Practice and Theory Course from Hillsdale University, and has California State Teaching Credentials. She has worked as teacher at Grace OC Academy, Okinawa Christian School International, and Berean Knoxville. She is a member of All Saints Anglican Church.

Madison grew up in Gig Harbor, WA and was drawn to missions work as a young woman. She has been a part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) since 2011, where she has taught YWAM’s inductive Bible Study schools and Discipleship classes. She has been a home educator for her own children since 2020. Her family has been a part of SBH since 2023. She and her husband, Spencer, are Directors of the YWAM Base Honolulu, and they attend All Saints Anglican Church.

Auntie Natalie has a BA in Elementary Education from the Baptist College of Florida. She has taught at Haili Christian School, Christian Academy of Louisville, Waolani Judd Nazarene School, and Trinity Christian School. She is married to Todd Morikawa, the pastor of Kailua Baptist Church. Her daughter Leila is a student at SBH.

Auntie Allie graduated from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana with a Bachelors in Biology Pre-Med and Life Science Education. She has taught in science K-12 classes at Washington Township Schools, Covenant Day School, Germantown Academy, and Claritas Classical Academy. Her two sons attend SBH and her husband, Matthew, is a Chaplain ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America. Their family are members at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Kailua.

Kelly is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, and attended college at Point Loma Nazarene University. She then went to school for Elementary Education at the University of Hawaii. Kelly worked at Central Union Preschool as an assistant teacher. The Maunakea-Payne family has been a part of SBH since 2019 and Kelly has taught Nature Studies and Humanities classes. The She and her husband Zach attend Anchor Church and have four children: Eliana, Michiah, Jude, and Nava.

Marissa was born and raised on Oahu. She was homeschooled through high school and then attend John Brown University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in History. She has worked with Youth for Christ Hawaii and volunteered with Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders. She been a homeschool teacher since 2020 and is involved with Bible Study Fellowship. She and her husband, Logan, have three children and attend Gracepoint Church.
